Theologians have endeavored to meet this challenge by both explaining the compatibility and persevering their traditional faith in divine attributes. Mark Maller, however, attempted to solve the problem by reinterpretation of divine attributes and abandoning the orthodox beliefs. The problem with Maller and his like Christian theologians was to rely on nonreligious presumptions rather than on theistic foundations in finding a solution for the problem. The critique of their stance is that one cannot formulate a logical consistent argument by adopting some premises from religious fources and other premises from nonreligious ones. It seems that a holistic view and looking into scriptural thrives can provide a better and more coherent solution for animal suffering. درد و رنج کشیدن حیوانات در صحنه طبیعت واقعیتی غیر قابل انکار است که زمینه‌ساز شبهۀ ناسازگاری این مساله با اوصاف علم، قدرت و خیرخواهی محض خداوند در ادیان ابراهیمی شده است. هدف الهی‌دانان از پاسخ گویی به این مساله برقراری این سازگاری با حفظ اوصاف خداوند است. مارک مالر از اندیشمندان معاصر در مقاله خود کوشیده است با تجدید نظر در مفهوم اوصاف خداوند مشکل را حل نماید. اشکال مالر و غالب الهی‌دانان مسیحی آن است که به جای تکیه بر بن مایه های دینی، با پیش‌فرض‌های غیر دینی سراغ حل این مساله رفته‌اند. حاصل نقد دیدگاه وی این است که نمی‌توان نیمی از مقدمات را از متون دین و نیمی دیگر را از تبیین‌های غیر دینی استخراج کرد و استدلالی منطقی یا پاسخی منطبق با دین انتظار داشت. به جای بازنگری در اوصاف خداوند باید دید چه تبیینی از درد و رنج حیوانات در زبان خود دین ارایه شده است. http://kalam.saminatech.ir/en/Article/Download/19134
